The Sales Director will be a key appointment within the Senior Management team and will play an integral part in devising and implementing business strategy with direct input towards the ongoing growth and success of the business.

 

The Role

Leading the Sales teams within this leading Technical Service and Aftersales business unit, you will be an integral part of the Senior Management team with strategic sales and marketing responsibility.

  • Overall management of all sales, marketing and customer relationship activities.

  • Close working with National Account Managers to understand business requirements and market needs.

  • Continuous coaching and leadership of the Sales team incorporating structured goal setting and improvement of commercial negotiating skills.

  • Quickly map out the Key Account sales landscape and analyse sales data to identify opportunities for business growth.

  • Create short, medium and long-term commercial strategies to deliver this growth, supporting and training the sales team to deliver it.

  • Work across allied business units to maximise lead-sharing and sales growth opportunities.

  • Regular report writing to provide up-to-date information on all key Sales & Marketing business areas as well as devising future strategy.

  • Perform market research and develop business cases to assess business potential and return on investment.

  • Responsible for the product and marketing strategy and supervising planning and sales promotions for products.

  • Build a highly effective and motivated team of sales and marketing professionals.

  • Continuous analysis of service delivery V profitability, adjusting as necessary.

  • Review the profitability of new and existing contracts.

  • Work closely alongside the Operations Director to ensure that sales can be supported by company infrastructure.

 

The person

This role requires a fast-paced, resilient and commercially astute sales leader who is able to effectively analyse data as well as effectively understand the sales opportunities across the market and make quick, commercially sound decisions.

  • A strong track record in commercial sales, ideally within an equipment service or maintenance environment.

  • Able to regularly analyse and manipulate data to devise commercial strategy whilst not getting ‘bogged down in the detail’.

  • Ability to research the market and put together a strategic business plan with the commitment to track and monitor results.

  • Capable of making quick decisions based on calculated risk when required.

  • Experience in client market segmentation and collaborating with colleagues to deliver Marketing strategy.

  • Proven track record of driving sales growth, results-focused.

  • Established experience gained in a senior role overseeing and developing sales professionals.

  • Responsible for budgetary, financial and strategic planning.

  • Able to quickly establish respect from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Hands-on management style -leads from the front and is strong in a customer-facing role.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels.

  • Good analytical and numerical skills with the ability to produce analysis from data derived from several sources.

  • Ability to engage people and present the benefits of the business in a concise and professional manner.

  • Flexibility to travel internationally/nationally and work away from home as required.

  • Resilient and robust with the ability to work with precision and pace, responds well to change and drives positive change and improvement.
