The Role

The Role

The National Account Manager will be responsible for identifying, securing, and developing national customer accounts, driving profitable sales growth across full equipment solutions.

Acting as the primary point of contact for key national accounts, the role will focus on relationship management, strategic account development, and new business generation, while ensuring high levels of customer service and internal collaboration.

This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across the UK.

 

Tasks include:

  • Deliver monthly sales and gross margin targets

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain account development plans, including customer insight, objectives, and growth strategies

  • Actively prospect, identify, and secure new national business opportunities

  • Produce proposals, quotations, and tenders, gaining internal operational and financial approval where required

  • Act as the lead point of contact for all national account matters, coordinating with internal teams as needed

  • Complete required sales reporting, including weekly reports, pipeline management, and forecasts

  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and industry trends

  • Identify and communicate any risks impacting customer retention, contract renewals, or revenue forecasts

  • Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing discussions and agreed discount structures

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer, contract, and opportunity data within business systems

  • Support collaboration and opportunity identification across internal divisions where appropriate

  • Ensure compliance with data protection, health & safety, and company policies and procedures

The Person​

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong account management and business development experience

  • A hunter mentality, thrives on researching the National Account landscape and harnessing new relationships

  • A proven track record of delivering new business growth with Key/National Foodservice Operators

  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and solution-selling skills

  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data and turn insight into action

  • A strategic mindset combined with a proactive, results-driven approach

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging at all levels

  • Confidence working with numbers, forecasts, and performance data

  • Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Experience using CRM or sales databases (desirable)

  • Knowledge of equipment, service, engineering, or technical sales environments (desirable)

  • Full UK driving licence
