A well-established and growing business within the commercial refrigeration sector, supplying innovative refrigeration solutions across the UK market.
They place Sales at the heart of the operation, creating an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Business Development professional to join during a significant period of growth.
The business has a strong presence within the convenience retail sector and is continuing to expand its offering through innovative and premium product ranges within both retail and hospitality markets.
The Role
This is a ‘hunter’ role requiring an individual to build a customer portfolio from scratch, focusing on winning high-value capital goods contracts across both Retail and Hospitality sectors.
The successful candidate will manage a strategic 75/25 split between high-volume retail accounts and high-innovation hospitality projects. This role demands high visibility in the field, requiring a minimum of three days per week in trade with prospects and customers.
Responsibilities include:
Convenience Retail & Regional Supermarkets (75% Focus)
• Identify and penetrate new accounts within the convenience retail sector, specifically targeting regional Multiple Group Operators (MGOs) and Symbol groups;
• Lead the end-to-end sales process for refrigeration capital goods, with a heavy emphasis on energy-efficient estate upgrades and new store fit-outs;
• Act as a consultant to retail partners, presenting technical refrigeration solutions that address critical pain points, including floor-space optimisation and compliance requirements.
On-Premise & Hospitality (25% Focus)
• Introduce innovative back-bar solutions to premium bars, pubs and regional hospitality groups;
• Leverage product innovation to win specifications where high-performance and aesthetically superior cooling are required for front-of-house environments;
• Identify opportunities where retail groups also maintain hospitality or ‘food-to-go’ interests which can be serviced by the wider product range.
The Person
An exciting opportunity for a commercially driven Business Development professional who thrives in a field-based ‘hunter’ role and enjoys building relationships and winning business from a standing start.
Applicants should demonstrate the following:
• Proven track record of selling capital goods directly into the UK Convenience Retail sector, alongside experience or strong aptitude within the On-Premise/Hospitality market;
• Proven experience within the commercial refrigeration industry;
• Understanding of the technical differences and requirements of both large-scale retail cabinets and high-performance back-bar cooling;
• Established professional network involving Symbol Groups, regional MGOs, hospitality procurement leads and bar designers;
• Self-starter mentality with confidence in cold-calling and new business generation;
• Ability to adapt sales approach between retail-focused and hospitality-focused markets;
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to build business cases and ROI models;
• Professional, driven and commercially focused approach.
